icy cold sea mist cleaves to barren rocky shore; ahead shifting shapes

round the twisting bend past the old village marker; dead fox lays by verge

donkey's big brown eyes peer over the chipped stone wall; waiting to turn right

the wolf moon bringing stormy seas and angry waves; inside car in awe

this morning's grey mist floats atop Burren mountains; charcoal silhouettes

looking to the west sunset fading before me closing the curtains

Every year on Christmas day, if its not raining from the heavens I go for a two mile walk round the back roads, down to the beach and old pier and back again. These haiku are from five days ago.
christmas day morning hardy swimmer flees cold sea; an old tradition
christmas day morning rooks enjoying the seaweed; just another day
christmas day morning meet others out for a stroll; only recognise one

it’s almost nightfall
twilight just slipping away
hedgerows in silence
it’s almost nightfall
twilight just slipping away
hedgerows are silent
it’s almost nightfall
twilight just slipping away
three islands in view

This solstice weekend has seen a myriad of weather fronts. From glorious sunshine to the four winds howling and galloping breakers, followed by relentless rain sweeping in from the Atlantic and back again to sunshine. Here are five haiku it inspired.
blustery morning
the four winds howl around house
hear the eaves crack, squeak
the four winds howl, howl
kicking up swirling sandstorm
three heavy raindrops
on summer solstice
sweeping rain falls with vengeance
Dylan’s rowdy ways
wild west wind charging
quick heavy downpour ensues
galloping breakers
the mighty sea roars
unleashing angry breakers
pounding pier wall
