Water – Haiku

down at the seashore
ocean falls through my fingers ;
seaweed clings to rocks

on promenade bench
people dropping their breadcrumbs ;
grateful mistle thrush

walking the seawall
two white butterflies join me ;
leading the journey

blackbird crapping on
freshly cleaned patio wall ;
pour a glass of wine

the robin comes out
from under the big hedgerow ;
checking the weather

after the rainfall
hedgerow full of melodies;
cars splashing walkers

endless and endless
just downpour upon downpour;
cat sleeps in corner

between the grey clouds
hairline crack of blue appears;
gone in a second

asleep by back door
puppy basks in the sunshine
innocent dreamer

the low slipping tide
revealing pebbles and rocks;
dog chasing it's tail

dawn at the seaside
gusting winds and swelling tides
chin tucked into chest

by the side of road
cyclist repairing puncture
rain comes pelting down

kids make sandcastles
adults in sandals with socks
Sunday at the beach

head under the car
white paws extended in sunshine
neighbour's sleepy cat

escaped bronze greyhound
galloping through the village
looks for finishing line

amidst rustling leaves
a blackbird sings his sweet song
balmy evening
