at village graveyard old men breaking open ground; burial of friend

Every year on Christmas day, if its not raining from the heavens I go for a two mile walk round the back roads, down to the beach and old pier and back again. These haiku are from five days ago.
christmas day morning hardy swimmer flees cold sea; an old tradition
christmas day morning rooks enjoying the seaweed; just another day
christmas day morning meet others out for a stroll; only recognise one

under old stone bridge brackish stream lays motionless; continue on walk

standing over sink
scouring last night’s scorched pot;
cat looks in judging
November sunshine
the sudden squally showers;
cat scarpers for shed

coffee and croissants
sitting by the street window;
shoppers and idlers

on cool kitchen tiles
cat lays down to sleep and dream ;
my second coffee

the careless parking
four by fours and Mercedes;
school run starts again

illegal parking
urban tractors askew;
designer coffee mugs
